If you are looking for the ultimate African wilderness experience, then Tanzania's Western Circuit is your answer. The very inaccessibility of the Western Parks makes them rarely visited but truly breathtaking experiences for those prepared to work for that definitive moment.
Gombe National Park
A mountainous strip which borders the shores of Lake Tanganyika, is Tanzania's smallest park. Covering only 52 sq km, Gombe Stream offers visitors the rare chance to observe chimpanzee communities made famous by British explorer Jane Goodall.
The area is heavily forested making it unsuitable for larger carnivores and safe for walking safari. Particularly excellent for birdwatchers.
